#IBC2024 WELCOME TO IBC2024
I’m delighted to welcome you to IBC2024, the global forum for the media and entertainment industry. It’s been an incredible 12 months since the last show, with major global sporting events and elections helping to drive innovation across the industry. As the pace of technological and operational change we’re all experiencing shows no signs of slowing, IBC is more important than ever, providing a valuable opportunity to discover the latest technologies while also offering learning opportunities that pinpoint where the industry is heading next. Working together with our owners (IABM, IEEE, IET, SCTE, SMPTE and RTS) as well as other key partners and experts, we’ve once again created a comprehensive content programme that runs across all four days of the show. It not only explores the groundbreaking work already happening across media and entertainment, but it also highlights the challenges the industry is facing, how these challenges are being met with creativity and collaboration, and where the future opportunities lie. When looking to the future, there’s one technology that is dominating conversation – AI, and generative AI in particular. A key goal of IBC2024 is to take away some of the concern and confusion around genAI and instead highlight real-world use cases that are already delivering effi ciencies and enhancements across the industry while exploring its future potential. To help with this, the AI Tech Zone, powered by the EBU, is new for IBC2024. Positioned prominently in the newly opened Hall 14, this dedicated area features companies leading the way in AI innovation. In addition, the AI Tech Stage will welcome industry leaders and visionaries to share their insights into all aspects of AI – from ethics and standards, to its impact on workfl ows, content creation and fan engagement. GenAI will also be in focus in the new AWS and Nvidia Innovation
Village in Hall 14. Here AWS and its partners are showcasing their latest AI-powered solutions alongside a two-day content programme featuring a whole host of industry thought leaders. The IBC Conference, which this year runs for three days in its new home of the Auditorium Complex, will also explore the AI opportunity, as part of a comprehensive deep dive into the biggest topics impacting the industry. Speakers from Sky, Channel 4, NBC Sports, MGM Studios, Warner Bros. Discovery and more will be sharing their unique insights. I’m also excited that the Content Everywhere area of the showfl oor continues to grow, bringing together nearly 200 exhibitors showcasing the latest technologies for the multi-platform delivery and monetisation of live and on-demand online content services. To accommodate this demand Content Everywhere has expanded to occupy Hall 14 as well as Hall 5 with a showfl oor theatre in each hall offering a packed programme of panel discussions and demos. Finally, I’d like to draw your attention to the IBC Talent Programme, taking place on Monday. With so many companies facing challenges recruiting and retaining staff, this half-day event on the Showcase
“We are truly back to pre-pandemic strength and I hope you enjoy discovering all that IBC2024 has to offer”
Theatre in Hall 8 brings together key stakeholders to address skills needs within the industry and discuss strategies to enhance engagement at all levels. Expect discussion around crucial areas including mentoring, talent pipelines and career development. With so many new showfl oor features, the opening of Hall 14, our most comprehensive content programme ever, and with more than 1350 exhibitors occupying 46,000sqm of space, IBC2024 will be our biggest show since 2019. We are truly back to pre-pandemic strength and I hope you enjoy discovering all that IBC2024 has to offer.
