LATVIA – Olympic Casino Latvia (OCL) opened its doors to the casino premises of the five-star Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga, as well as to the gaming hall and sports bar at the Radisson Blu Daugava Hotel. The venues officially opened during the summer, but experienced delays due to Covid restrictions.
In June, OCL announced the acquisition of SL Casino Riga (SIA Storm Latvia) in the Shangri La network at the premises of Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga. Considered to be one of the most ambitious deals in recent years in the Latvian gambling and entertainment industry, all preparations have been completed and the casino, which now bears the name of Olympic Casino, features 10 gaming tables, as well as 24 slot machines.
“In the spring of this year, OCL managed to conclude a deal with SIA Storm Latvia, taking over the company's assets, which, due to low depreciation, are still in excellent condition. The casino at Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga is part of our long-term strategy. A lot of work has been done to adapt the facilities, infrastructure and procedures in accordance with the current epidemiological safety requirements and OCL standards, so that Rigans and guests of the city can safely enjoy world-class casino entertainment here in Riga, Chairman of the Board Gints Pakārklis .
OCL has significantly changed the concept of the former casino premises of Radisson Blu Daugava, now focusing on the entertainment provided by OlyBet sports bar. After the reconstruction of the premises, OlyBet Sports Bar has now become one of the largest sports bars in the Baltics. In addition, there is an OlyBet sports betting acceptance point, where visitors can place bets on their competition and game favourites. The location further includs 21 slot machines in the games room. The total investment in the new Olympic Casino Daugava amounts to €500,000.

Merkur Gaming has issued a statement decrying the lack of discussion concerning the location of the ICE show beyond 2022. Merkur claims that show organiser, Clarion, has not listened to the concerns of exhibitors and that the show should be relocated within the EU.
Te statement reads: “Te recently released ICE Location Analysis survey conducted by Explori has re-ignited concerns among several leading exhibitors that London can perhaps be seen as no longer fit for purpose beyond 2022. Tese concerns now re-visit an industry-wide debate that was seen after first the Covid-19 postponements and then the cancellation of ICE 2021. Te survey carried out during June and July 2021 by Explori, despite the statement issued by ICE organisers Clarion Events that they had “engaged in significant exhibitor and attendee outreach,” was directly only at attendees, not exhibitors.
Merkur added: “Te exhibitors pay the bills and create the show’s profits, but it seems that our opinions on London as the continuing venue for ICE after 2022 do not matter.”

Show organiser Clarion has responded: “ICE London only exists and can only be consistently successful if it meets the needs of all of its stakeholders. Tis has been at the core of Clarion Gaming’s business philosophy and will remain so.
“Te independent research carried out by Explori (June 25– July 14, 2021) surveyed a total of 684 ICE stakeholders and was part of a thorough research programme that included direct engagement with a sample of 50 exhibiting brands – a community that represented 55 per cent of the total ICE floor.
“ICE London is a significant exhibition occupying 70,000sq.m gross (2020), a key metric that limits the number of venues capable of hosting a show of this size.
“We would never insist on a location that the industry was not happy with. Our pledge is to always work with our customers in order to deliver the best and most favourable outcomes for their businesses and for the industry that we are proud to serve.”
provide our customers pioneering, top-of-the-line printing solutions.
“It is increasingly clear that retail betting solutions need to be integrated with online platforms and operators have to offer players a comprehensive betting experience across both land- based and digital outlets.”

“Our product portfolio includes a vast array of printing solutions, both standalone printers and integrated devices that can be installed into these self-service kiosks allowing us to satisfy the needs of the betting shops and retail outlets that may want to accept bets at either the counter or at kiosks.”
