in total were released. Tree of the 12 licences never completed their tender process and later in 2003, when the law changed the three licences were then cancelled. A law in 2011 (4002/2011) created a compre-
hensive regulatory framework for both retail and online gambling whilst new casino regulations were introduced in 2018 via law 4512/2018. Tere are two types of casino licences – a
simple casino licence and a ‘wide-range’ casino licence. Te simple casino licences enable gaming
rooms and accommodation of at least four stars or three keys classification. Te wide-range licence is for five-star hotels/establishments or facilities with a tourism infrastructure such as a conference centre or golf course, theme park, ski resort, or leisure facility. Simple type casino licences are valid for 15
years, whilst the wider range casino licences are valid for 30 years. Te casinos generate around eight per cent of
