Comment March 2025

Tis issue we have the middle chunk of our USA market report covering

states from Iowa to New Hampshire. In a timely manner, the AGA's annual Commercial Gaming Revenue Tracker was released a couple of weeks ago

with the headline grabber being that the industry set a new revenue record for the fourth consecutive year. Total revenue from land-based casino

games, sports betting and iGaming reached $71.92bn for the calendar year, a 7.5 per cent increase over the previous record set in 2023. With the

inclusion of tribal gaming revenue, which will be reported by the National Indian Gaming Commission later this year, total gaming revenue is expected to approach $115bn.

Interestingly, the AGA once again described in-person gaming

encompassing casino slot machines, table games and retail sports betting as "the bedrock" of the industry (70 per cent) despite online gaming

claiming yet another slice of the revenue pie (30 per cent). Tat bedrock is eroding fast - online revenue accounted for 24.9 per cent in 2023 and 19.5 per cent in 2022. 35-ish per cent in 2025?

Brazil and AI aside, gamification is the new "omnichannel" buzzword of the industry - and rightly so. It has become a pivotal strategy for enhancing player engagement and retention - so much so that the overwhelming

response from suppliers to share their expertise on the subject has seen us split the feature across two issues. Tis month's contributors discuss the importance of balanced gamification, how to design cohesive progression and reward systems, and what the future holds for gamification in iGaming.
