US - Pennyslvania shatters sports record Sports betting revenue records continue to be shattered across the US as Pennsylvania's online and retail sportsbooks celebrates the second anniversary of the launch of legal sports betting in the state with its first $500m month. The new high in October brought Pennsylvania's third consecutive record month, as bettors swarmed sportsbooks for football.

PlayPennsylvania.com. "Pennsylvania could conceivably catch Nevada in a matter of months to become the nation's No. 2 market, especially if the Steelers continue to roll and the Eagles can somehow make a playoff run to spike local interest."
Pennsylvania's online and retail sportsbooks generated a record $525.8m in bets in October, according to official data released Tuesday. The month's handle was up 118 per cent from $241.2m in October 2019 and topped the previous record of $462.8m set just last month. October's bets produced a record $47.8m in operator revenue, more than doubling the $19.1m in October 2019 and shattering the previous record of shattering the previous record $31.6m, set in January.

Pennsylvania - Wind Creek opens sportsbook Wind Creek Hospitality and Betfred USA Sports have announced the opening of the newest sportsbook in Pennsylvania at Wind Creek Bethlehem on November 18, 2020. The sportsbook is the first for Wind Creek in the US, and the third for Betfred Sports which has opened sportsbooks at Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort in Larchwood, IA and Saratoga Casino in Black Hawk, CO. The sportsbook is the culmination of a deal that was signed in January of this year. It features two state-of-the-art video walls, 31 individual TVs, three betting windows and eight self-service betting kiosks, in addition to multiple viewing areas and a sports pub for food and beverage.

Masks must now be worn at all times when around people not part of their immediate household, whether indoors or outdoors. Governor Sisolak said the new measures were part of a 'statewide pause' rather than a shutdown. Te restrictions will last at least three weeks.
Governor Sisolak said: "COVID is filling up our hospital beds and that threatens all Nevadans,” Sisolak said. “If hospital beds continue filling at this rate and staffing shortages continue to increase as they are now, that means all Nevadans will have limited access to the care they may need. Tis is a three-week pause, and we're hopeful that the community will support the businesses through other methods, be that delivery or takeout, but the capacity will be 25 per cent,” Sisolak said. “It's up to them to decide if they want to open at 25 per cent.”

Two more Las Vegas Strip casinos have confirmed they reduce amenities during the middle of the week due to low visitation levels. MGM Resorts closed the hotel operations at Mandalay Bay and Te Mirage on Mondays to Tursdays, starting on November 30.
MGM said: “We are constantly evaluating occupancy levels and adjusting operations accordingly. While we do not currently expect the mid-week hotel closures to remain past December, we will continue evaluating business levels to determine how long they are in effect.”
MGM had limited the operations at Park MGM to just weekends. Las Vegas Sands has closed the Palazzo from Monday through Tursday with Wynn Resorts doing similarly at Encore. Caesars plans to reopen the Rio resort, the last of its casinos to reopen in late December, but again only for weekend occupancy.

PlayIllinois.com. "Pent-up demand is expected to fuel a new market, but Illinois has been able to capitalise on the additional demand that has been unleashed after sports were shut down this spring. It's been a perfect storm for operators.” Joining Nevada, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania with a handle of more than $300m in any one month, Illinois reached the mark in just its third month after launch.
