Pen Pals

There’s nothing better than getting together with crafting friends and bonding over your hobby. Whether you’re exchanging tips and tricks, learning new skills or simply having a natter over tea and cake, it’s wonderful to have a community around you. At CCHQ, we love bringing people together to do just that. If you’re looking to meet new people who share your crafting passion, email editor@createandcraft.tv with the subject heading ‘Crafty Pen Pals’ and include your name, member number, location and your favourite crafts.

CRAFTING

“Crafting has certainly helped me through some hard times”

Hello, my name is Lauren and I’ve been crafting for 15 years. A friend got me into creating things – I started working with parchment paper and I also tried glass painting and cross-stitching. But, once I started papercrafting, I was hooked. I’ve recently spent my time making Disney home decorations thanks to Melanie Heaton and her inspirational designs. In the future, I would love to learn how to crochet and get in touch with other members who would love to learn, too. Lauren Clarke

Hi, my name is Jessica and I have been crafting for six years. I started making things after my nan took me to a craft class at a garden centre. I really love decoupage and die-cutting. I do struggle with stamping, so if anyone would like to meet up to share tips and ideas, that would be perfect. Jessica Freeston

My name is Nicola and I’m 47 years old. I live in West Sussex and I enjoy making cards and gift boxes, and die-cutting. Look forward to hearing from you! Nicola Sharp

If you would like to get in touch with Lauren, Jessica or Nicola email or write to us, and we’ll put you in touch.

64 CRAFT CLUB MAGAZINE

“Crafting is my therapy; it helps me to relax, and I have made so many friends along the way. I have designed plenty of things for the care home where my mum stayed, to help them raise money for clothing and toiletries as many people who go in don’t have anything. Crafting has certainly helped me through some hard times, especially when I lost my mum in November. She loved my makes, so I decided to carry on in her memory – it has really been therapeutic.” Elaine Richards

Every crafter knows just how rejuvenating a spot of creating is, whether it’s to help us through tricky times or simply a way of winding down at the end of the day.

“Crafting really helps me to relax”

“I got divorced four years ago after 36 years of marriage. It has been a struggle as I had never been on my own. I have been crafting since I was 18-years-old, and it has helped me through some difficult times – it really helps me to relax. I recently purchased the GoPress and Foil Machine, which I wrapped as a Christmas present for myself – I really enjoy using it.” Sue Allen
