Oxberry’s designs are truly original and we love her bold style. She explains: “My main area of focus is art and mixed media; the freedom of expression in this particular art form is so much fun. I particularly love layering up paints, inks and pens to create unique designs.”

Die-cut a selection of letters from greyboard. Cut a 15cm x 15cm base from
greyboard, and glue letters into place, overlapping them to achieve your desired coverage [1].

Coat the base in black gesso, ensuring you paint the entire surface [2]. Once dry, dip a
dry flat brush in a small amount of white gesso, and brush over the base surface, highlighting the textures created by the letters.
Create two more bases from greyboard: one measuring 8cm x 11cm, and another
measuring 5cm x 8cm. Here you can work with two colour schemes; magenta, orange and yellow on one, and green, blue and yellow on the other. Use white gesso over the bases and introduce your acrylic paint colours to create a blended finish [3].

Using the same colour scheme as Step 3, design a stencilled layer over your boards.
Graduate the colours through the stencil using either a sponge or a stencilling brush.
