l Use a walking foot as it will feed layers of fabric evenly through your machine. l Use 100% cotton for the best results. l Spray your mat with fabric protector to make cleaning it after a day in the garden easy. l Take your time and enjoy making your projects; sewing is fun!


kneeling cushion Make a You will need


l 1 fat quarter fabric l 15in x 11in laminated fabric l 15in square cushion pad l 16in zip l 24in of 1in wide webbing l Use a ¼in seam allowance unless otherwise stated.

Cut the fat quarter into one rectangle measuring 15in x 11in, two pieces measuring


11in x 3in, one piece measuring 15in x 3in and one piece measuring 15in x 4in.

Cut the 15in x 4in piece in half lengthways. Sew back together with a ½in seam


allowance. Press the seam open, place the zip face down over the seam and either hand-tack or secure with a fabric glue stick.


Sew around the zip using the zipper foot on your sewing machine, then take your quick


unpick and remove the stitches from over the zip. Sew the four side pieces right sides together to make a loop.

Cut the webbing in half and sew, facing inwards, to each short side of the top


fabric, 2 ½in from each side.


Sew the loop right sides together around the top of the cushion cover, matching seams to the corners of the top piece.


Sew the laminate base in the same way, making sure the zip is open. Turn the


right side out.


Push your cushion pad inside; as the pad is slightly larger than the cover it will be


nice and plump.
