Hannah says:
“I have added a square of jute ribbon between layers and embellished the layers using washi tape and self-adhesive pearls in graduated sizes”
5
Make the coloured layers pop by adding a border of black gesso [4]. Using a small
amount, run black gesso down the edges of the base with a palette knife. Add lines to the border using the edge of the palette knife dipped in black gesso.
6 7
Use gilding flakes to add another layer of interest. Take one of the stencils used in
Step 4 and apply the foiling adhesive through the stencil with a sponge. Pat the gold gilding flakes over the surface, allowing them to stick to the glued areas. Remove the excess flakes with a rough sponge.
To complete your wall plaque, layer up the elements created. Use a combination of
double-sided tape and foam pads to give height to the pieces. Finally, add a heart topper tied with jute cord to pull the layers together.

Loved making the wall plaque? Use the techniques to create these unique cards
1
Create the perfect masculine style card by using the layered letters base. Mount
the letters background on to a 14cm x 14cm Kraft card blank and embellish with a heart tied with jute string.
2
Cut out a 5cm x 8cm greyboard base. Decorate in green, blue and yellow and
add gilded highlights. Continue gilding onto a white card base measuring 12.5cm x 12.5cm and attach the decorated greyboard. Mount this onto a 14cm x 14cm Kraft card blank. Embellish the card with the heart topper and graduated pearls, and again edge the card in black gesso to frame.
3
Mount a 5cm x 8cm greyboard base, decorated in the magenta, orange and
yellow colourway, on to a concertina card blank. The gilding flake design has been continued on to the back portion of the card and a heart and graduated self- adhesive pearls give embellishment. The card blank has been edged in black gesso to form a border.
