How would the world change if all social media platforms suddenly went offline? Would it change your life for better or worse? Think: Working alone, take one minute to think about your responses to the two questions above.

The following is an extract from a comic drama set in an American high school. This extract features three characters – Jayna, Marisol and Perry.

JAYNA:
Uh, Georgie is so annoying! Why does she only take pictures of her feet!
MARISOL: I think she thinks it’s a joke maybe. JAYNA:
And then she’s always giving me crap about how I never like her feed. She’s always sending me Penguin-Eating- Cake-on-Fire emojis and it’s so annoying.
Marisol! Penguin-Eating-Cake-on-Fire is the universal way to say, ‘Why aren’t you liking my grams?’ How do you not know that? Even my mom Penguin-Eating-Cake-on-Fires and she’s the worst.
