You are about to watch the Oscar-winning short film The Silent Child directed by Chris Overton (2017). It tells the story of Libby, a deaf girl who struggles to communicate with her family until a caring social worker teaches her sign language.
As you watch for the first time, make a note of the ways that Libby’s family, and particularly her mother Sue, fails to communicate with her.
