Why? Why have they met at dusk? Why have they gathered at this spot particularly? When? It seems clear that the picture depicts a scene around dusk or dawn. Why did they choose this time to gather? Is the important action over, or just about to begin? How? How are things about to unfold? If a major event is about to happen / has just happened, how did it do so? How are the people in the picture going to act or react?
Step 2: Shaping good sentences and paragraphs In Odyssey 1 you were introduced to a number of techniques to develop your writing skills. Having brainstormed ideas for your setting, characters, action and hook, you should use these techniques in the sentences for your short story. These are: n Add adverbs and adjectives. n Include a simile or a metaphor. n Begin a sentence with a verb ending in -ing. n Vary the length of your sentences.
