Work in groups and turn this poem into a piece of drama. u You should have three characters: the poet, his friend Paul, and the poet’s younger brother.

u You should have the three scenes from the poem: the boys walking to the bus stop; the younger brother realising he has no money and must return home for his bus fare; the younger brother running out of the gate while the poet and his friend run off.
WORKING WITH OTHERS STAYING WELL
u You should also add one more scene – it could be a scene showing what happens later that day when the poet gets home, or a scene where the brothers discuss the incident years later, or anything you can imagine.
NUMERACY u When you have finished writing the script, practise performing your piece of drama.

Repetition: Using a word or phrase more than once close together in a poem. Structure: The way the poet has organised the poem on the page e.g. number of stanzas, lines per stanza, breaks in between lines and stanzas.
