Thunberg’s use of different persuasive techniques convinced a lot of people about the seriousness of the dangers to our way of life. On the first viewing, watch it without looking at the transcript of the speech in your textbook. Make notes in your copybook to sum up Thunberg’s three most important points.
2. On the second viewing, follow the transcript in your textbook, and then compare your notes to what is in the transcript. Which points did you get right? And which important ones did you miss? Report back to your class.

I am here to say: Our house is on fire.
According to the IPCC, we are less than 12 years away from not being able to undo our mistakes. In that time, unprecedented changes in all aspects of society need to have taken place, including a reduction of our CO2 emissions by at least 50%.
And please note that those numbers don’t include the aspect of equity which is absolutely necessary to make the Paris Agreement work on a global scale. Nor does it include tipping points or feedback loops like extremely powerful methane gas being released.
