DEFINITIONS Satire is a way of criticising people or ideas in a humorous way, especially in order to make a political point. Writers use satire to point out contradictions, entertain audiences and encourage people to think about old topics in a new way, and to change things. It is important to note that satire does not aim to insult or hurt people. The point of satire is to make the audience think about how something could be changed by getting them to see the world from a fresh point of view.
