While Reading
You are about to read an extract from the novel The Weight of Water by Sarah Crossan. It is a novel about a young Polish girl, Kasienka, who moves to England with her mother. Kasienka struggles to settle into her new country and is bullied at school.
The Weight of Water is a verse novel. These novels look like poems, and are written in verses, rather than paragraphs. While reading: 1. Pay attention to how the story looks on the page. Highlight any line that is indented. An example is shown in the first paragraph.
