Welcome by Donna Green, Chief Nurse

Welcome to my third Chief Nurse Review, where I can proudly share with you some of the great things about nurses, midwives and allied health professionals who work at HHFT.

We like to recognise success at HHFT and there are lots of things to celebrate. Despite some challenges with staffi ng, our teams have demonstrated signifi cant improvements in the quality of care delivered to our pati ents. This includes a 70% reducti on in hospital acquired pressure ulcers and a signifi cant reducti on in the number of falls. This is a huge tribute to the teamwork and commitment to providing the best standards of care for our pati ents.

A number of our colleagues were shortlisted for nati onal and regional awards demonstrati ng commitment to improve and innovati on in what they do.

We celebrated the fi rst anniversary of our Clinical Matrons, who are making a real diff erence by developing their clinical experti se and leadership skills. Having a senior nurse/therapist working clinically 80% of the ti me is having a real impact across the Trust. Our ward sisters are developing their practi ce development skills to support educati on and development of students and staff at the front line and we have embraced a number of new roles to support our trained staff .

We even had a visit from Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge!

Our pati ents keep telling us how wonderful our staff are. We receive over 200 WOW! Award nominati ons each month. Last year we received a record number of nominati ons for our annual Director Of Nursing Awards. As I walk around and spend ti me with staff and pati ents and read all the nominati ons, I can see and hear how our values are put into acti on.

Hard work, passion and commitment means that "Outstanding staff deliver Outstanding care” Thank you!
