Older person’s nurse fellowship
Clinical Matron Liz Green was awarded a disti ncti on on completi on of her Older Persons Nurse Fellowship at Kings College, London. As part of the fellowship, she led the ‘It’s not HAPU-ning’ campaign on pressure ulcers across the Trust.
She said: “I’m really proud with what I achieved while studying for the fellowship and the work I did on pressure ulcers has raised awareness of the issue and changed practi ce. That is something I am really pleased to have been involved with.
I’m really passionate about elderly care because it’s really varied and unpredictable. I work well under pressure and we are always really busy, juggling multi ple things, which is what keeps it interesti ng. Every day really is diff erent.
I have enjoyed my fi rst year as a Clinical Matron. There have been challenges, but it’s a new role and despite these, we have improved the quality of our pati ent care. It’s really good to know that I have the infl uence to change practi ce on my ward and communicate on a higher level with pati ents and relati ves.”
“I’ve begun a project to improve the experience for pati ents and relati ves. Having the autonomy to just do that, without needing to ask anybody, is really empowering for me as a nurse.”
