Looking aft er our staff
We know that when our staff feel cared for and respected, they naturally demonstrate the same values when caring for our pati ents.
Ensuring the health and wellbeing of our staff is essenti al to ensure we can deliver high quality pati ent care. Every year we hold an event to encourage staff to take a moment out of their busy day to focus on wellbeing. We reward staff for their excepti onal hard work and commitment to our Trust by providing, free of charge, a range of individual treatments such as massage, refl exology, or manicure and group acti viti es such as yoga and drum therapy.
Schwartz Centre Rounds are forums for all staff to come together and talk about the emoti onal and social challenges faced when caring for pati ents. The discussion begins with a pati ent story and moves on to explore the issues raised.
“It’s really good to hear about how staff in diff erent areas of the Trust overcome the challenges they face. They may have a totally diff erent role, but there’s always something to learn and take back to your area from the way they approach and deal with a problem.”
Clinical Supervision
Clinical supervision is off ered to all nurses, midwives and therapists across the Trust. It is a form of facilitated refl ecti on that helps staff learn from their experiences and develop personally.
Our Preceptorship programme for newly-qualifi ed nurses includes an element of facilitated refl ecti on. This helps to give new staff the dedicated ti me and space to consider and learn from the challenges of adapti ng to life as a registered nurse.
