Nursing Associates


The role of Nursing Associate is a new one for the NHS and is aimed at bridging the gap between Healthcare Assistants and Nurses. Nursing Associates will be trained and supported to carry out a range of duti es to support nursing colleagues. They will be regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.


We are is leading the way, supporti ng the scheme. Lauren Hoskins is one of 10 Healthcare Support Workers at our Trust training to be Nursing Associates, a two-year programme being run in conjuncti on with Southampton Solent University.


Lauren said: “This is a great way for Healthcare Assistants to take a step towards becoming nurses. It’s brilliant to have the opportunity to progress and I am picking up a lot of new skills.


It’s hard work, but it will be well worth it in the end. It’s great for me to have a chance to develop my skills and when I’ve fi nished this course, I’d like to go on and do the nursing apprenti ceship.”
