Quality improvement fellowship


Yvonne McWean, a physiotherapist by background and our Quality Improvement Lead, has been awarded a Quality Improvement Fellowship by Health Educati on England Wessex. Training and supporti ng staff in quality improvement skills, Yvonne is also leading a quality improvement initi ati ve looking at the way we care for pati ents with frailty, ensuring early access to a multi disciplinary frailty interventi on team.


“The fellowship has given me a rare opportunity to have protected ti me to focus on making change happen. Quality improvement is more than just change. It is about making measurable improvements through the use of quality improvement tools and techniques to deliver bett er outcomes for pati ents.


Frail pati ents have complex needs and are vulnerable to deconditi oning and longer lengths of stay in hospital if they do not get access to the right experti se early on in their journey. We owe it to these pati ents to ensure we conti nually strive to off er the best care we can and minimise their ti me away from their homes and families.”
