1.1 A good leader should not be afraid to make bold decisions that will benefit others, and he or she should be willing to take risks.
1.2 A good leader should always put the needs of others first, working very hard to help people to make their lives better.
1.3 A good leader should be able to work well with other people, so that the work can have more impact than if one person worked alone. A good leader should be able to inspire others to do their best for the common good.
1.4 A good leader should be interested in people, and listen carefully to what they have to say. A good leader should not be proud and only want to hear his or her own voice.
1.5 A good leader should not give up when things becomes difficult. He should have the courage to carry on, even when he faces problems.
2.1 He learnt about traditional values and ways of doing things. 2.2 He is humble, clever and servant-hearted.
2.3 He wanted them to change their ways, and he hoped to help establish a new kind of South Africa in which we all get along.
3.1 Indian people had very few rights in their own country, and the British sold their tea and cotton all over the world, becoming very rich, while the Indian people remained poor.

3.2 In 1930 a group of people started walking to the sea to make salt. They were not allowed to make their own salt, because British law forced them to buy salt from British salt factories. They were peaceful and well organised. The police attacked them, but they carried on until they got to Dandi, a place at the sea. More than 60 000 people followed Gandhi’s example and started making their own salt.
