This activity gives learners the opportunity to make a simple drawing of a written description of a route.


Teaching guidelines


• Use this activity as a stepping stone for the formal assessment task coming up in Activity 9.


• Read through the description of the route in class. Make sure the learners understand the Description.


• Tell learners to check that drawing with the description when they have finished. • Walk around the class and help learners having difficulties. You can get the learners who have successfully completed their drawings help the ones who are struggling.


• Ask the class what landmarks are mentioned in the description. • Tell learners to keep turning their page around as they draw the route so that they get the directions correct.


Suggested answers


See drawing on the next page. Learners’ drawings do not have to be exactly the same as this but they must have arrows going in the right directions and landmarks correctly shown.
