• Now we will look at a map of South Africa. This map will show a bigger area that any of the maps learners have encountered up to now.


• We will learn how land and oceans are shown on the map. • We will also learn about the different provinces of South Africa and see where each one is situation in relation to the other provinces and the oceans.


Teaching ideas and tips


You could begin this unit by showing the class a wall map of South Africa or a map of South Africa in the atlas. Show learners: • Land and sea • Ocean names • Provinces and their names • Main cities and towns in your province.
