• The aim of this activity is to get learners to draw a simple map. They do not have to draw objects to scale.


• They do not have to get directions correct. • They must choose their own symbols and make a key • Encourage learners to use colours and work neatly. • Learners should draw their maps in their notebooks.


Suggested answers


Check learners’ maps by walking around the classroom while they are busy. Check that they have drawn the framework correctly and chosen symbols and drawn a key.

We will learn that the best way to find a place on a map is to place a grid over the map. Each column on the map will be represented by a letter. Each row on the map will be represented by a number. By finding where these two meet, learners can give an accurate answer to where a certain object will be found.
