Activity 7 Fill in your own map of South Africa Learner’s Book page 48

This activity gives learners the opportunity to fill in their own map. This is an important skill that learners will need to practise – do not expect great neatness and accuracy to begin with.

Teacher guidelines

• You can use the map provided earlier in this unit. Make copies for learners. If you have no photocopier, the learners can trace the outline from an atlas map.

• Make sure the learners follow the Tips for neat maps: o Print names o Shade colours neatly – use coloured pencils rather than Koki pens or crayons o Print labels in straight lines o Show the position of a town with a dot

• Learners must stick their completed maps in their notebooks.

Suggested answers Check learners’ maps as you walk around the classroom. Activity 8 Map skills
