Switch On and Get Started with Equipment from Rehm

By Anna-Katharina Peuker, Rehm Thermal Systems GmbH

Blaubeuren-Seissen, Germany — The electronics industry is constant- ly facing new challenges in the pro- cessing of components — from han- dling the smallest parts to achieving the highest standards in void-free solder joints, and increasing quality through resistant conformal coat- ings. Under the slogan “Power on — switch on and get started!” Rehm is unveiling its latest production solu- tions for today’s efficient electronics manufacturing.

Advanced Soldering Systems The VisionXP+ convection sol-

dering system combines numerous developments, especially noticeable in its energy efficiency and its reduc- tion of emissions. With this system, customers can save up to 20 percent more energy and reduce their aver-

age annual CO2 consumption by about 10 tonnes. The vacuum option makes convection soldering process- es with or without vacuum possible for the first time — in one system. The VisionXP+ Vac reliably removes gas bubbles and voids during the pre- soldering process, while the solder is still in its optimal molten state. With a vacuum of up to 2 mbar, void rates of less than 2 percent are possible. Next, the VisionXC convection

for small and medium batch sizes, or for laboratory and demo projects. For every electronics manufacturer, it is important to achieve high quality in assembly production, even at low throughput. This means optimal process performance for reproducible

term. The VisionXC was created for just these types of customers. An additional advantage of the machine is its compact size, which combines all the latest technological features in the smallest amount of space. Rehm also offers its CondensoX

soldering system is offered for cus- tomers who need reliable soldering

soldering results, which must also be implemented reliably over the long

condensation reflow soldering sys- tem. In this series the soldering process takes place with the help of hot steam and a medium called Galden®. As the heat transfer is up to 10 times higher than that of convec- tion soldering, massive boards can be processed without problem. The use of the injection principle and the con- trol of temperature and pressure ensures precise and varied reflow profiling. The series also includes a space-saving, high-performance ver- sion of the system for laboratory applications, small batch production and prototyping. In addition, void- free soldering can be implemented in all CondensoX systems with the vac- uum option.

Protection and Test for Sensitive Electronics

Conformal coating can increase

the quality and the lifespan of a product. The Protecto system for selective conformal coating applica- tions protects sensitive electronic components against damage caused by corrosion, as well as other envi- ronmental influences such as mois- ture, chemicals and dust. The coating system is built to handle complicated application processes in one step.
