Gainesville, GA —Count On Tools (COT), a provider of precision components and SMT spare parts, has introduced a new version of its award-winning line of StripFeeder products — the StripFeeder Light- weight. Increased demand for use of the Strip Feeder platform in OEM automated tray towers prompted the need for a low-mass version to accommodate ma- chine weight limits on tray capacity. The system includes six skeleton rails and the
company’s new low-mass baseplate. The skeleton design reduces carrier tray weight by 40 to 50 per- cent. StripFeeder Lightweight rails are available with 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, and 1.125in (6, 12, 19, and 28mm) pocket depths. The tray’s rails are removable and can be
mounted in a variety of ways to accommodate dif- ferent tape sizes in the same feeder. Unlike fixed- width carrier trays, the StripFeeder can be adjust- ed by removing the rails and repositioning them on the baseplate at the desired width, in

a 4mm (0.16in) pitched pattern. The rails align with precision pin locators and lock down tightly with magnets for stability. They contain a mechan- ical lock-spring to hold the tape in place by the sprocket-hole for part registration and repeatable
pick-and-place applications. The user has only to teach the pick-up location once, and consistently reload the unit with the same parts for longer runs.
The rails have been designed to hold compo-
nents securely in the machined tracks, and pre- vent the parts from being mis-picked, flipped in the pocket or lost. Users can also remove rails en- tirely to free up space for larger components — up to a 120mm (4.72in) tape width. The system is a cost-effective way to load many components, in- cluding odd-form and custom components, without having to purchase expensive feeders. The trays
are also compatible with most SMT equipment. Contact: Count On Tools, Inc., 2481 Hilton
