A new low-cost swing away bracket has been launched by Vocas Systems for its MB 430 matte box for large sensor cameras. The bracket fits directly on the MB 430 and fastens to standard 15mm bars, and makes it possible to change the lens without disassembling the matte box from the bars. A 19mm rod adapter is available. The company has also introduced several extenders for its wooden handgrip, which allow users to adjust the handgrips and other accessories to a more comfortable position. Vocas also has a new universal mounting bracket for mounting a Codex portable video recorder on standard 15mm bars. The bracket is also compatible with battery mounting plates, wireless microphone receivers, counter weights and other recorders. 11.D43
3G video launch 3G video cables from Percon have made their debut. The ENH+ series is described by the company as improving the quality and performance of existing HD professional video cables by 15-20% in critical situations. The new series can be combined with state-of-the-art 6GHz BNC connectors that offer VSWR from 1.06- 3GHz, says the manufacturer. Percon is continuing to expand. Distribution has been set up in Kuala Lumpur with the aim of strengthening the company’s presence in South East Asia. 10.E51
Secure reseller Exterity has been approved by Motorola Mobility to be an authorised reseller of its SecureMedia solution. SecureMedia Encryptonite ONE integrates with Exterity’s AvediaPlayer Receiver range to guarantee that organisations comply with broadcasters’ conditions, designed to protect their content when streamed across LANs. The Motorola solution provides DRM protection to meet the security requirements of leading broadcasters. Broadcasters can also verify how many channels businesses have access to, protecting revenue streams. DPP grows into the IBC Workflow Village

The Digital Production Partnership – a teaming of major UK broadcasters behind the completed programme delivery standard AS-11 – has introduced an application to help production companies maximise and understand their metadata.

of the DPP technical standards committee - said: “We realised when we did the work for AS-11 that manufacturers do not support metadata work. “We wanted to give
production people a way of entering their metadata, so we developed the app to take an AVCI file and check the compliance,” Burrows added. “Is it valid audio? Does MXF wrap the file? It extracts all the data and lets you enter the
remaining fields. Then it maps it all into MXF.”
The DPP purposely left AS-11
broad so it can have an impact in other countries in subtly different ways, and it did not go for the full suite of metadata options because the starting point was the replacement of tape in delivery. This makes the app big news.
