Has IBC come at a good time for the electronic media industry? Why?
It’s a perfect time. The industry continues to move to file-based workflows and there are numerous challenges that this presents all along the supply chain from production issues through to the longtail delivery options of finished assets. IBC
standalone in modular frames or integrated into Harris Platinum routers. The integrated control system allows a number of cards to be linked to control multi-unit or multi-room displays as well as dynamic single surface video walls.
Built-in alarms help multichannel operations monitor by exception. If there is a problem with a single stream it will be detected and draw the operator’s attention to itself, thereby allowing
is the perfect place for everyone involved in the creation, management and distribution of assets to find new solutions to these challenges plus explore new products and services that help increase creativity, speed up delivery times and address the new challenges of security in the tapeless, file-based world that we are now working within. The timing of IBC is perfect as most attendees will shortly be in the budget planning cycle so it enables all to plan effectively for 2013 capex requests.
What do you think are the key developments in, or threats to, your market sector at the current time?
The key development is the standardisation of file-based workflows when delivering to the major broadcasters. We have been working with the
operators to supervise more channels safely, and reducing operational costs. “Live broadcast and
production environments have become increasingly complex as the number of signal
DPP and the EBU with their FIMS initiative to support this objective, aiming to simplify and clarify the workflow at every stage for everyone.
Why should delegates visit your stand at IBC? Great coffee! Seriously, we are showing our new Media Shuttle product on the booth for the first time. Media Shuttle delivers secure, accelerated media file delivery in a monthly
subscription-based portal. This gives production companies, post houses and content owners instant access to a super scalable, enterprise secure portal for the safe delivery of their materials. It could be on-set dailies being delivered to their chosen post house, or perhaps an edit or DI session that requires approval from the DOP or Director who
are in a different city. Designed specifically for the media and entertainment community, Media Shuttle addresses the challenge of intermittent requirement for file movement without compromising the security issues around sending and receiving high value content in a timely way. 14.621
