71 Latest Goldeneagle takes to the air

WorldCast Systems By David Davies

Audemat is showing the new Goldeneagle DVB-T2 Signal & Facility Monitoring System, which was made available earlier in the summer. The system is the latest innovation from Audemat, which is the monitoring and control

specialist within the WorldCast Systems group. Nicolas Boulay, CTO for the

WorldCast Systems group, commented: “With adoption and pre-deployment testing of DVB-T2 continuing apace, the need for a reliable and fully featured signal monitoring system was palpable.” The Goldeneagle DVB-T2 is capable of monitoring up to 20 channels per receiver

through RF, and can be deployed either at a transmitter site or throughout the coverage area.

Features include audio/video streaming and automatic channel detection, while there is also the option – as with all Goldeneagle products – to introduce remote facility management on the signal monitoring

Answers for the loudness correction era

Cube-Tec By David Davies

As most broadcasters in Europe gear up to adopt loudness correction based on EBU R 128 (ITU-R BS.1770-2), Cube-Tec is highlighting its ability to supply flexible and efficient solutions for the

calculation and file-based correction of loudness. In addition to standard

compliance, processing speed for the loudness correction of MXF-files is particularly important. Accordingly, Cube-Tec can provide implementations to complement the requirements of different workflows.

For loudness correction during playout or broadcast, multiple workflows are possible. Swapping out audio information inside the MXF

file using corrected audio data is one such possibility. A second option is to capture loudness correction parameters as metadata, which then controls in realtime levelling during playout. Loudness validation and loudness normalisation of delivered MXF files are increasingly important. For quality assurance during file exchange between organisations, the Cube-

Tec system analyses MXF file parameters, calculates loudness parameters and produces a fresh MXF file, fully and in every

parameter compliant to the in-house standards. During the whole re- wrapping process the video stream remains completely untouched. This method not only corrects loudness in a single pass, but also ensures that all ingested files are in a format in which every parameter is defined fully and correctly.

variety of I/O inputs. 8.B50

In this way, problems based on file

incompatibility can be minimised while readability of archived files in the future can be ensured. Cube-Tec’s MXF Loudness Assimilator can be integrated into existing production environments via web service interface. It is also usable as an FIMS complaint service in a BPMN 2.0 based workflow management system for automated controlling of complex media workflows. 8.C05
