New DIVAs on display
Front Porch Digital By Carolyn Giardina
The latest versions of DIVAdirector and DIVArchive are among the products on display at Front Porch Digital’s stand. The DIVAdirector V5.0 media asset management system is designed to enable operators to search, locate, and retrieve stored media assets directly from their desktops using their Web browsers. Version 5.0 includes HTTP-based adaptive streaming support; offers portability across operating systems, browsers and proxy formats; and supports a greater number of concurrent users. DIVArchive V7.0 includes a new open Archive eXchange Format (AXF) technology developed by Front Porch to protect, preserve, and facilitate the exchange of content among storage systems. Front Porch said this open AXF
implementation is aimed at replacing legacy formats such as TAR with an open and storage- agnostic approach for long-term accessibility to content.

The Foundry By Carolyn Giardina
Software developer The Foundry is showing its newest version 1.5 of its Mari 3D digital paint tool for VFX artists and game developers.
“Mari 1.5 is the result of close collaboration between The Foundry and our customers. We believe that Mari 1.5 is the most exciting texture painting and 3D digital paint tool available and that it addresses the needs of not just VFX and CG, but anyone who needs to put pixels onto polygons,” Product Manager, Jack Greasley, said.

Middle East win for Titan ATEME
By Ian McMurray
The first Middle East customer for its Titan platform has been announced by transcoding specialist ATEME. The win sees a deployment by content aggregator Intigral for IPTV and OTT services in Saudi Arabia. According to ATEME, Intigral chose its Titan carrier grade transcoding solution because of its support for both file-based and adaptive streaming video,

and ability to deliver video content at the highest possible quality to multiple screens. Intigral is currently aggregating content at its operations centre in Dubai and then distributing it to STC over a 155Mbps fibre link. This service will include IPTV, VoD and OTT, so this will be one of the first cases where all three delivery technologies are integrated via a single transcoding platform. Intigral currently has 20 Titan nodes and plans to install more as the service expands. 1.F70
Yesterday at IBC heralded the formal launch of the ingestLINE FrameLector module, NOA Audio Solutions first video ingest workflow module for typical SD material such as Betacam SP. The new module is the latest addition to the ingestLINE family of products for media transcription.
FrameLector is designed to
offer an easy-to-use ingest tool that provides built-in scene detection, lossless compression on open-source standards, remote control of replayers, and a scalable multi-stream parallel solution with complete previewing. The lossless open-source mezzanine format is said to
allow for capturing SD material and its required metadata, such as VITC and LTC timecode, in uncompromised quality. Jean-Christophe Kummer, NOA managing partner, commented: The new FrameLector module is based on our experience
with the SRF Ange projects in Sweden, one of the largest video migrations in Europe. We took the knowledge and lessons learned from that project and built this solution, which integrates seamlessly with the NOA workflow engine. 8.D91

Texture messaging: The Mari 1.5 interface
allows shared textures to be re-used across 3D models within the same UV space. Helping to improve interoperability with Autodesk Maya, artists can handle patch based textures using the new Maya Texture Export feature. Another new function is Shadow Support,
which lets artists cast realtime shadows on objects from multiple light sources. Additionally, DDS Cubemap Support lets artists match the final look of realtime assets, and new Mirroring Support in Mari’s paint buffer has been added to the software. 7.B21
