Facilitating file-based broadcasting functions
allow Venice to integrate into file-based broadcast environments.
Very nice: Media production hub Venice
Rohde & Schwarz By Carolyn Giardina
Rohde & Schwarz DVS is presenting its studio- broadcast and post production systems with the latest features and including new products.
As a media production hub,
Venice is aimed at users from the areas of news production,
post production and studio production as well as archiving and on-air playout. It has been developed to go beyond accommodating video server features such as HD-SDI ingest and studio playout to include file-based functions such as file ingest, transcoding, transwrapping and media transfer. At the same time, its open platform and communication standards
Also on display at IBC is the Clipster DI workstation that includes a Digital Cinema Package QC tool in the area of mezzanine-format generation which is aimed at accelerating performance in the DCP remastering process. A new render pipeline in Clipster boosts performance with processes running up to eight times faster. Clipster supports mezzanine formats like IMF (Interoperable Master Format) and follows the latest IMF standardisation developments offering, among other things, CPL version 5 support. In the storage line, reliability and increased capacity will be emphasised, with SpycerBox Ultra now offering an increased capacity of 96TB. SpycerBox will come with a high-availability feature set, and a mirrored configuration was created to prevent total outages. 7.E25
Q&A
Jennifer Teixidó, export manager, Percon
Has IBC come at a good time for the electronic media industry? Why?
IBC always comes at a good time. Being a company which specialises in the manufacture of high quality cables, we need to know what’s going on in the electronic media industry. There’s no better place than the IBC to see the new devices that may need our cables.
What do you think are the key developments in, or threats to, your market sector at the current time?
Despite the economic crisis, the sector is livelier than ever. Globalisation has been a threat but also a challenge that strengthens our commitment to offer not only the best products but also the best
service. So, in my opinion, listening to customers, understanding their needs and having a permanent stock of our products is essential to stand tall in the broadcast sector.
Why should delegates visit your stand at IBC? They should come in order to discover the new and revolutionary HD cables we have recently developed. They know they are always more than welcome and their opinions and needs are the drivers that make Percon improve and design new solutions. 10E51
