Eurosport picks new contribution platform

On the first day of IBC2012, Thomson Video Networks announced that Eurosport has chosen the new ViBE CP6000 for a contribution system the
broadcaster is building during 2012.
Located over five sites in France and the UK, the new system will be shared between Eurosport and its owner, TF1 Group, which operates Europe’s largest private television channel. The system is based on 12
links transporting MPEG-4 HD 4:2:2 at 8 or 10 bits. The Eurosport network provides coverage of European and international sporting events to 59 European countries and 10 in Asia, in 20 different languages.

Four talkback output channels, with a built-in limiter, are available to the commentator and they can be linked to provide
simultaneous operation. Activation of one or more talkback channels removes the commentator audio from the main output until all talkback channels are deactivated.

Eurosport system includes five encoders and three decoders. A standard solution would require an 8RU chassis with power

There are five transformer-balanced return audio inputs which, along with the commentator input, are routed to the headphone monitor controls. With these headphone controls, any monitor input can be adjusted and sent to either the left, right or both ears.
A GPIO port gives an open- collector driven output indication of any active On- Air or talkback channel, while four remote inputs provide an external call/alert to each of the talkback controls.
