INFORMATION ASSURANCE TOPIC PROGRAMMES


For Information Assurance (IA) specialists who have completed an introductory programme (see ISFP or IALA on page 75) and need specific in depth understanding of particular areas. The chart below shows recommended and suggested additional topics for each specialist area, but you should choose the programmes most appropriate for your own role. Ideally these should be taken three to nine months after the introductory programme.

Information Assurance Standards IS2 and IS1

Topic Programme 1

For both Information Assurance (IA) practitioners and accreditors. Ideally to be taken three to six months after an introductory programme.

This programme will give a full understanding of the accreditation process and the Risk Management and Accreditation Document Set (RMADs) as defined by IS2, and in depth practical training on the application of IS1 Parts 1 and 2, as well as an overview of other IA standards.

Also suitable for update and continuing professional development (CPD).

Information Assurance Business Requirements for Transformational Government

Following the topic programmes, the appropriate specialist programme will add role-specific context to your learning and help you in the practical application of information assurance policy within your role. You should have completed an introductory programme plus at least any recommended topic programmes before attending the specialist programme.

Risk Management and Accreditation Specialist Programme

IA Professionalism Stage 3 for accreditors

Information Assurance (IA) system accreditors who have completed IA professional stage 1 and 2 programmes (Topic 1 minimum).

The programme is also suitable for update and continuing professional development (CPD).

System accreditors need a sound understanding not only of the HMG IA standards and their use, but also how they should approach their role as an accreditor, and their interactions with other roles.

Having gained a sound understanding of the IA Standards and their application from the IA Topic programmes, this programme takes an accreditor focused view and concentrates on a wider understanding of the role.
