Advanced Media Skills
For those who have already attended the introductory Essential Media Skills (MWS) programme (see page 42). This one-day workshop will help you polish your performance in everyday situations and develop your techniques in dealing with difficult media encounters, also known as back-to-the-wall, on the defence and so on.
Programme features include group interviews, ‘devil’s advocate’ questioning, door-stepping, crisis containment and damage limitation.

Chartered Management Institute First-Line Management – Level 3
This programme is designed to provide people with the skills, knowledge and confidence to perform effectively in a first-line management role. The programme is delivered in a modular format and there is an option to select modules most appropriate to your role and responsibilities. Each module is externally accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and can be combined with Open Learning and assignments to achieve recognition at Award, Certificate and Diploma level. The programme includes free online access to a Virtual School community and resources.

Chartered Management Institute Diploma in Management and Leadership – Level 5
Significantly revised to meet new Chartered Management Institute (CMI) standards this nationally-recognised Level 5 programme is an ideal opportunity for line managers (middle and aspiring senior) seeking to develop their understanding and knowledge of the profession of management.
Now available in both London and Sunningdale, the programme is delivered through a series of one-day per month workshops in London or blocks of two or three days in Sunningdale.
The total number of workshops is 10 days.
The programme can be completed over 12 -18 months.
The syllabus covers team and self-development, resource management, customer and quality requirements, managing information, effective communication, developing people, performance management, project planning and HR for line managers.
Assessment is through written assignments, skill activities, e-assessment, case studies and a management project. Candidates have access to CMI and National School community website.
The flexible design of the programme allows candidates to work for a nationally recognised qualification to gain credits for full qualification.
These costs include ongoing tutor support, distance learning, workbooks and access to e-Learning through our Virtual School.
