Think on Your Feet®

High impact verbal communication

This programme is designed for anyone who needs to get their point across clearly, concisely, persuasively and memorably and who is likely to be asked questions without time to prepare in advance.

Clear thinking leads to clear speaking. Whilst formal presentation skills are important, the majority of our verbal communication is in informal, unplanned briefings, meetings and question and answer sessions.

This internationally acclaimed course teaches the vital skill of being able to think, and talk, with clarity, brevity and impact when there has not been an opportunity to prepare in advance.

Bite Size – 90 Minute Training Sessions

From April 2010 the National School of Government will be offering a suite of bite size training. These will be 90 minute training sessions and delivered in partnership with Illumine Training. The topics will include:

Innovate

Unleashing Creativity™

Creativity comes in many guises and of course some people are more naturally creative than others. However we are all capable of great creativity. It is a skill that can be learnt – and this session will show you how to unleash your own creativity and that of your colleagues.

Communicate

That’s What You Think!™

Seeing things from different points of view can be a real challenge. This session is all about how to understand, really understand the other person’s point of view. Doing so will help you to develop more effective working relationships and help you to influence others positively.

Rapid Rapport™

Rapport is the first stage of communication. Without that atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding (“being on the same wavelength”) it is difficult for any communication to occur. Learn how to quickly create rapport with anyone, even meeting them for the first time. What would effortless good communication be worth to you and your organisation?

Are You Listening?™

When we listen effectively we get better quality information and a better understanding of it too. Good listeners also positively encourage others and consequently upset fewer people. This means less frustration and a more satisfying working life for all concerned!

Assimilate

Names & Faces...and Other Stuff!™

Do you often forget names, faces, appointments and other stuff that you really should remember? If so, you will love this session! Learn how to remember names and faces so well that you will never have to say ‘you know whassisname’ ever again – because YOU will know the name. You will also learn systems for remembering lists and appointments – and anything else that you need to remember. Everyone can remember more – much more – and this session shows you how!

Motivate

Peak Performance Strategies™

Understanding how to maintain peak performance is vitally important to manage the increasing demands within the business world. This session provides practical solutions to enhance health and perform at the highest level to increase personal effectiveness and business efficiency. You will learn how to stimulate your brain and how to maintain your energy throughout the day.

Learning to Dance on the Shifting Carpet

Change can either be viewed as having the rug pulled out from beneath us – or as a reality and something to be embraced.

All of these training sessions are in design and development and will be available for delivery from April 2010.

Further details about their aims, content and dates will be posted on the National School’s website during February 2010. If you would like a reminder sent to you around that time please email Juliet Shaljean-Tilley.
