Page 87 PI Value-Adds Piezo Element Assembly

Auburn, MA — Fast response, high bandwidth and force, and virtually unlimited resolution make piezoelec- tric transducers invaluable for today’s high-tech applications, in - cluding flow measurement, distance gauging, bio-medical dispensing and aerosol generation, as well as metrol- ogy, semiconductor testing, and aero- space technology. PI (Physik Instru - mente) offers value-added piezo com- ponents by providing flexible printed circuits for easy integration into spe- cific applications. Traditional integration of piezo

components requires soldering by experienced personnel to electrically connect the transducers. PI’s new flexible printed circuits provide the necessary electrical contact securely and easily, without soldering. Auto - mated attachment is now made easy, providing greater versatility and sav- ing time and cost. PI’s Ceramic Division special- izes in OEM customization of piezo

Helukabel Launches Flexible Control Power Cable

Elgin, IL — Cable manufacturer Helukabel has launched its latest cable product offering, the TRAY X, a NFPA 79-2012-compliant flexible control power cable with cross-linked (thermoset) polyethylene (XLPE) insulation. These tray cables are suitable for

all machinery in tool and plant con- struction and can be installed in dry, humid and damp environments, in pipes, underground, and in open, unprotected installation from the cable rack to industrial plant mach - inery. They are 600V and WTTC 1,000V rated allowing them to be used in 1 kV wind turbine cable tray applications. In addition, the cable is CE-approved for machine builders exporting to Europe. Due to its low capacitance, the

XLPE insulation is suitable for appli- cations that require long cable runs. A higher current load rating is possi- ble due to the conductor temperature resistance of 105°C (221°F). This enables a smaller cross section to be used when designing electrical net- works in machines or systems. In addition to the resulting lower costs and use of copper, the much smaller outer diameter offers advantages for installation in tight spaces due to an increase in the cable’s maximum bending radius. TRAY X has an oper- ating temperature range of –40 to +105°C (–40 to +221°F) and a mini- mum bending radius of 10 times the cable OD. It is currently available in sizes 20 AWG to 500 kcmil with var- ious conductor configurations. For customers working in facilities where high levels of electromagnetic inter- ference are present, a shielded vari-

ant is available upon request. Contact: Helukabel USA, 1490
