Jabil: Innovation Acceleration Services Speed New Products to Market

St. Petersburg, FL — Jabil Circuit, Inc., is enhancing the value of its end- to-end manufacturing solutions through the introduction of new inno- vation acceleration services that com- press the entire product lifecycle — from gathering user insights and needs to shortening the path to com- mercialization. These services enable customers to respond faster to chang- ing product and market demands while reducing risks and costs associ- ated with design, supply chain, manu- facturing and compliance challenges. “Innovation requires continual

application of new technologies, au- tomation, analytics and manufactur- ing know-how,” says Bill Muir, chief operating officer at Jabil. “We’re de- veloping a complete ecosystem of dig- ital connections to create new busi- ness opportunities, improve experi- ences and deliver added value, from start to finish.” To help customers compete

more effectively in the digital econo- my, the company offers: a digital pro- totype lab (DPL) and associated serv- ices; managed supply chain services to improve supply chain visibility and mitigate risk; managed procure- ment services to boost purchasing ef- ficiencies and drive cost savings; and 3D printing and additive manufac- turing services to accelerate new product introductions for large-scale production.

Driving the Digital Journey The Radius DPL is a full-serv-

ice, rapid prototyping facility led by Radius, an innovation and develop- ment consulting firm acquired by Jabil in 2012. The DPL adds compet- itive value to customers with com- plete user insight, design, build, analysis and testing services offered under one roof. A cross-functional team drives unmatched concept and UX/UI development, digital service delivery design and go-to-market ca- pabilities. The DPL is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment, including 3D printing, CT scanning, five-axis CNC machining, finish, paint and as- sembly, and cleanroom and testing facilities. Integrated Radius strate- gy, research, design, engineering and implementation services rapidly iter- ate, build and test innovative cus- tomer ideas, enabling proof-of-con- cept models to be produced in as lit- tle as five weeks. “Radius helped us bring our

technology vision to life by delivering a tangible product to show our grow- ing partner ecosystem,” says Dr. Yitao Liao, chief innovation officer at RayVio. RayVio develops products that use UV LEDs to clean and disin- fect medical instruments, drinking water, and wearable UV medical treatment devices. “Using advanced technologies, Radius powered through 200 product iterations to produce pro- totypes in half the time it normally takes. Jabil’s ability to offer all these integrated capabilities under one roof can greatly reduce time-to-market and the costs associated with intro- ducing any new technology.”

Supply Chain Visibility Powered by Jabil’s InControl™

Intelligent Digital Supply Chain and Procurement Intelligence Platform,

new managed services take advan- tage of the company’s industry and domain expertise, orchestrating over 700,000 parts across a global net- work of more than 17,000 suppliers sourced from more than 30 countries. With the company’s procurement services, organizations gain access to proven purchasing strategies, ad- vanced sourcing capabilities, as well as execution and purchasing support. The services are amplified by the company’s global spending of more than $15 billion annually across a di-

verse set of products and applica- tions in the industrial, energy, auto- motive, communication, consumer, and healthcare industries. “Speed to market is critically

important as long as companies can fuel innovation without compromis- ing quality and accuracy,” says Simon Ellis, program vice president of supply chain strategies at Interna- tional Data Corporation (IDC), a global market intelligence firm. “Jabil’s new managed supply chain and procurement services add a layer

of digital intelligence that can in- crease efficiency, expedite cycle times and reduce costs across com- plex global supply chains.” In addition, the new supply

chain services enable customers to reduce risk and increase visibility while improving supply chain speed and agility. To optimize supply chain networks, the company assimilates structured and unstructured data to allow user-defined scenario planning and network optimization modeling.
