SCHOOL COUNCIL
This term our school council have been action planning and implementing a range of activities and initiatives.
The Academic committee aims to run a discussion day where the focus of each lesson is student voice, discussion and debate.
The Arts and Culture committee have been working with Mrs Gray to set up a whole school debate culture through our tutor ‘thought for the week’ activities and debate clubs.
KS3 students are currently taking part in a ‘readathon’ which was launched by the Business and Enterprise committee. The Business and Enterprise committee will also be involved in fundraising for Red Nose day on 24th March.
The Facilities committee will be applying for some funding from the Local Youth Network to support their recycling at Matravers project which aims to introduce new recycling bins across the school site.
Sport and Health committee students aim to increase the range of sporting activities which are available during social times within the school day.
THE ‘TENNER’ CHALLENGE Each of the School Council committees are also taking part in the ‘tenner’ challenge this term. This challenge allows each committee to be creative and innovative with fundraising ideas with the aim of making as much profit from the £10 as possible. Many fundraising events have been taking place this term, ranging from bake sales, a sweet shop to ‘Yo-Gi-Ho’ games.
