YEAR 7 A FEW WORDS FROM MR TAYLOR

Once again the year group have impressed and superseded my expectations of them since the last newsletter. The information below is merely a snap shot of what the year group have been involved with and every involvement has been a great success and achievement for various individuals and group of young individuals.

One large achievement the year group has accomplished is the amount of money that was raised during the Year 7 charity week. All tutors and tutees were responsible for creating events or activities to raise as much money for our chosen charity, Cancer UK. Activities ranged from cake sales, raffles, guess the number of sweets in jars, sponsored silences and sponsored runs around the school site to name only but a few money generating ventures. A huge sum of money was raised by the year group with the money raised totalling in excess of £420. A huge congratulations go to 7.3 who raised the most within the year group who went from door to door in tutor time selling various tickets and holding scrumptious cake sales. A very special mention is needed for one individual who went to such lengths to set up his own Just giving page to raise as much money as possible for the year charity. Well Done to Toby Withers of 7.5 who went well above what was expected and such a great attitude towards others.

Continuing the charity work the Year 7’s have recently entered a “Readathon” challenge. Not only improving their reading skills and abilities but also raising money. They can be sponsored per page, per chapter or per book so they are on the hunt for sponsorship from family and friends and hopefully will again raise a substantial amount for money for those less fortunate.

During World Book Day so many young individuals took part in dressing up from different books and emulating their well-liked characters from books they have read or heard of. Characters from Harry Potter, Diary of a Whimpy Kid and books from the notorious author David Walliams all made it to the lunchtime catwalk competition. I’m very pleased to say that our very own Year 7 Annie Bell won the overall competition winning a voucher to spend on her choice of literature. Well done Annie.

A huge shout out goes to another Year 7 who was in a leading role within the fantastic school production
