FOOD PREPARATION AND NUTRITION
ROTARY YOUNG CHEF 2017
On Saturday 4th February, Lucy Hubbart in Year 10 entered the Rotary Young Chef 2017 District Final which took place in King Alfred School in Highbridge.
She had plenty of support on the day from her Mum and best friend Mikaeli as well as the Rotarians and teachers. Lucy wasn’t fazed by anything on the day, even though most of the contenders were from private schools. She held her own and performed fabulously, remaining calm and professional throughout.
Her menu was: Salmon and broccoli muffins Chicken stuffed with cheese and wrapped in pancetta served with seasonal vegetables Lemon meringue pie with cream
Lucy finished on time and although she made a few minor errors, all the food was presented beautifully ready for judging. Although on this occasion she didn’t win, she certainly made us all proud and I think the experience will remain with her for some time to come. I’d like to thank her for taking part in this competition and giving up her Saturday! Hopefully she and Mikaeli too may enter next year!
