PRESENTING BETH MURTIE PHOTOGRAPHER TO THE MAYOR OF WESTBURY

Back in November we received a request from the Mayor to help document the Christmas Market in Westbury. A number of 6th

form students offered and at the last minute Beth stood in and said she could cover the whole day. Who would have thought this would have opened up a world of opportunities for Beth as photographer?

Since Christmas the Mayor has been in constant contact with Beth to be photographer for many events in and around Westbury. The Mayor invited her to Civic Service, Civic Dinner and Awards. Beth was invited to join the Civic dinner to thank her for all her hard work. While at this dinner Beth was sat with the owners of the White Horse News who invited her to write an article and send photographs about her time in Belgium with the Humanities department but what is more impressive she also got offered work experience with the White Horse news to be a photographer for the newspaper. Opportunities in Photography placements are really hard to secure we are really pleased she has been given this amazing chance to prove herself in the world of photography.

Other work opportunities have been flooding in since the Civic dinner and Beth now has been asked by Oxfam (Bath) Charity Events to be a photographer for them, this work will be ongoing and Beth is waiting for events to attend. Beth has also been invited to Westbury

Muse festival to document their event. Through her work with the major she has also been invited to Photograph the Bath Half Marathon for Time is Precious charity this weekend in Bath (12/03/17).

We are so proud of the hard work she has put into her work with the Major and are very pleased that it has allowed her to open doors into the world of Photography. Keep an eye out for work in the future especially in the local press.
