KID'S REPORTER
Museum of the moving image

When you hear “The Museum of the Moving Image,” what do you think that is? You probably think it is a museum of moving images. Well, that’s correct. But it’s not an ordinary place where you just may think, “Oh this place is only about moving images, what is so great about that.” When I was there I sort of felt like I had to experience the activities that were given.
A few activities that I really liked were the Animation Center and the Voice Recording Center. At the Animation Center, you can make your own slide- show. There are different backgrounds that you can choose from and dif- ferent objects that you can put on to make your slideshow. You can have loads of fun and let your imagination take you away. When you are done making the slideshow, then you can sit back and look at what you made. If something is wrong then you can delete that slide and fix it up so it can be perfect. Because there are many different backgrounds and objects, there is no limit to try to make various slideshows. All that matters is that you have a good time when you are there, and I’m sure you will. There is

also a dubbing room. At the room, you can dub a movie character’s voice by choosing among several movies. First, you pick a scene you want to do. Then you listen to how the actor or actress says their lines. When you are done rehearsing with the original voice of the character, you record it. After you say all your lines it will put all of them together for you to hear. It will be in your voice and you will hear how well you did. You don’t have to put your tone of voice to match how the character says it. You can have a really funny voice and say the lines. You can say the lines with your low tone or high tone. That’s why dubbing is so much fun. The whole museum is about the films. How you can record, make transi- tions, and so on. But the fact that the museum doesn’t bore the children amazes me. If there were no activities or anything, I would have wanted to get out of there as fast as I could. Because of all the things that I could do, I wanted to stay there longer. I had a really good time while I was at the museum of the moving image and I will never forget what I did, and how I did it.
