41 AEC runs Military Analysis (MA) & Junior Officer Leadership (JOLP) courses. We can also offer advice & guidance on Military Knowledge (MK) parts one & two.


Advice for Personal Development


In addition to specific military education the centre offers information and advice on general educational matters, such as courses offered, civilian examinations and distance learning. We also offer information and guidance on Basic Skills, Resettlement and career choices to the military.


Army Learning Centre


These centres offer a number of on-line courses on a variety of subjects including IT, Business and Management, Skills for Life and Languages. Some of the most popular courses include ECDL, Fork Lift Truck License and NVQs in Customer Service, IT, Business Administration, Team Leading and Management. Many of these courses leading to nationally recognised qualifications.

Personal and Community Development Learning (PCDL) 41 Army Education Centre (41 AEC) offer a range of courses for all entitled personnel being military, dependants and UKBC and their dependants. All PCDL courses are free for serving military personnel.


Our subjects range from the obvious German language courses (at various levels) to vocational, e.g. First Aid which is a certified qualification. We have courses which are for general interest and include arts and crafts, knitting/crochet, digital photography, flower arranging, guitar (again at various levels) as well as yoga and dance courses. In addition, we are able to facilitate PTTLs (Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Sector) an adult education qualification which can lead to teaching qualifications within adult educational institutions. The courses are held in various locations such as Detmold, Hameln, Paderborn, Sennelager and Bad Lippspringe where possible; in addition, we regularly review our tutors so if you think you can teach a course (if non-academic or vocational, then you do not need any formal qualifications), let us know.


We are open Monday to Thursday 0800-1630hrs and Fridays 0800-1300hrs and closed on German Bank Holidays. You can attend 41 AEC at any time during these hours or telephone 05251 101 552 (Civ) or 79 3552 (Mil). Alternatively, you can email the PCDL coordinator on ppdcoord@41aec.detsa.co.uk who will place you on the distribution list so you receive the 41 AEC brochure regularly, including all updates. Finally, 41 AEC is also able to assist you find a distance learning company to help you either continue or begin your further development (e.g. through the Open University); simply contact the PCDL Coordinator who will assist you by reviewing your needs, your educational achievements and your goals to find the best course for you.
