Choosing a Day Care setting for your child can be quite daunting. All of our Managers in each of the 6 Day Care settings are ready to welcome you and your child. Each of the settings has an open door policy and you are more than welcome to visit at a time that is convenient to you and the Manager. The Manager will show you around and explain how we implement the Early Years Foundation Stage in each of the age groups. Time will then be spent settling your child into the setting and you will spend time with the Manager and your child’s Key Person so that we can provide a ‘home-from-home’ induction programme.
With a variety of activities available to the children the main essence is for each child to develop and have fun in their own way in a safe and welcoming environment. All ages are encouraged to explore their local area and so walks may include visits to the bank and to the shops so that they can see what happens or learn about healthy eating and making choices. All of this is done under the constant supervision of caring staff that are encouraging each child to engage at their own levels and needs.
Wherever possible the Day Care settings link in with the nearest FS1 setting and the links are developed to ensure a smooth transition between them. In some cases provision is made to provide care for those FS1 children who require afternoon care but this is on a ‘fill-up’ basis and you will be required to book in early if you think you will need this provision.
Each of the Day Care settings has its own ‘personality’ and you are advised to look carefully at each of them so that you can find the setting that suits your child the best. You can look on line at each of the Day Care settings and see what they have been up to recently on
www.awspaderborn.com or you can contact the AWS Garrison Childcare Managers on the telephone number listed above.

Acreswood is in a fabulous location in the heart of the community. It has made maximum use of all the rooms available and it has a fully secure outside area which is used for many different activities. The children love the role play room which changes on a regular basis from a hairdressers to a doctors surgery to anything else really that the children would enjoy.
Acreswood has close links with Honeypots, the Bishopspark School FS1 setting on Barker Barracks. Please note: a place in the SCE FS1 is not automatic and parents must apply themselves when their child is due to move up.
