Renfrewshire’s Diversionary Activities/ Street Stuff programme was established a number of years ago and provides a range of activities for young people in a number of areas including Houston. Again earlier this month the Gym Bus and a mobile football pitch was set up behind the shopping area adjacent to Crosslee Crescent. The Local Area Committee awarded £20,000 to this project and the plan is to provide activity sessions to young people in a number of locations in our local area.

Well done to the P7 children from Houston and St Fillan’s Primary Schools for their creative artistic design and painting of the wonderful murals in the underpasses. I fully agree with my colleague Councillor Marie McGurk’s comment that the local community will appreciate and enjoy the murals for years to come.

In previous years while on holiday I have always been able to stay in touch with and respond where possible with any enquiries I receive through my ‘Blackberry’. For some reason this year I was unable to receive a signal on the ‘Blackberry’ and was out of touch for 2-weeks. Can I apologise to anyone who was trying to contact me and received no response during that time. Renfrewshire Council’s summer recess is now over with the normal cycle of meetings commencing from 16th August.

Having had a number of enquiries regarding the schedule of bin collections in both Houston and Brookfield. I have copied the September schedule from the Renfrewshire Council website as shown below...
