ATMOSPHERE AND CHARACTER REST CLOSE TO THE HEARTS OF MOST LIVE MUSIC FANS, SO WHEN IT WAS DECIDED METROPOOL WOULD RELOCATE, THERE WERE UNDERSTANDABLE FEARS. JERRY GILBERT VISITED THE VENUE TO DISCOVER THE ART OF SUCCESSFUL MIGRATION.

TM Audio has opted for a seven box hang of W8LMs each side of the pros arch, using Martin Audio Display optimising software to ensure even distribution up to a small ‘letterbox’ balcony area. A W8LMDI is installed at the bottom of the array, while a W8VDQ is situated under and in line with the array in a separate pan / tilt hang, to reach the difficult spots under the balconies and on the first rows. Also helping to optimise the dispersion is the fact that TM Audio has
designed custom flying grids and has adjusted the position of the mounting points to gain the directionality. Two active ASX subs, situated in a special concrete housing under the stage, can be repositioned as necessary, and the entire system is driven two-way active (or three-way active with the subs). Martin Audio has also built its reputation on providing first class refer- ence sound for the artistes, and TM Audio has supplied 11 LE1500S low-profile floor monitors, as well as two Martin Audio S218+ (2 x 18-inch) subs and F215+ (2 x 15-inch) per side - for side fills - and two S18+ (18-inch sub) and F15+ (15-inch +1-inch) per side for drum fills.
The whole set up is doubled up, allowing a stereo feed, and powered by combinations of Martin Audio’s four-channel MA6.8Q amplifiers and MA4.8Q.
