Sakura Lounge Bar

THE THIRD SAKURA LANDED IN MANCHESTER IN LATE 2010. POSITIONED IN A VIBRANT PART OF TOWN WHERE COMPETITION IS FIERCE, THE JAPANESE-STYLE BRAND IS RELYING ON ITS HIGH STANDARDS TO GILD ITS COMPETITIVE EDGE.

requirements, which I then translate into reality. The key is to give the operators as much user-friendly flexibility as possible. The system is set up so you can play the music from downstairs to upstairs, or upstairs to downstairs. You can also change the source to DJ or iPod. You can, for example, have an iPod plugged into the downstairs DJ box with the music playing upstairs only.”

Sakura Lounge Bar is serviced by a total of five Nexo GEO S1230 arrayable 2-way enclosures. Here they are used independently, and backed by four VIETA Do80S small subs under the seating and Nexo RS15 subs in the central area. Nexo PS8 speakers have been de- ployed over the fixed seating, sushi bar and stairs. Its lightweight and compact, bi-amped design makes it particularly installation-friendly. Where background fill, rather than full-bodied sound is sought, Aus- tralian Monitor QF8 ceiling speakers have been used. The DJ booth is

kitted out with Pioneer CDJ-900 CD decks and a Pioneer DJM-800 DJ mixer.

Alex explained that the equipment choices are not dictated by group deals, but by which kit is the best choice for each venue: “We have no specific fixed relationship with Nexo. We are very happy with the equipment in the venues where they have carried out installations but are always looking for new technology in the market place and, of course, cost is a major factor. There are no guarantees that we will use any one specific supplier for future developments, but at the mo- ment, Nexo’s products suit our businesses.”

Lighting in the upstairs bar comprises six Robe ClubScan 150 CT fixtures and four Robe ClubScan 250 CT fixtures. Downstairs, in Twisted Tokyo Club, more Nexo GEO S1230 speak- ers, together with Nexo RS15 subs, supply sound to the dancefloor.
