We’re reaching that time of year when the hours of daylight are getting longer, meaning we no longer have to go to work in darkness and return home to the same.
Instead, as the clocks go forward at the end of this month we can begin to look forward to the return of being out and about without getting wet through, enjoying lazy Sunday afternoons in a beer garden, and some sunshine (hopefully!).
And if the proposed plans for Double British Summertime go ahead in the UK then, we can look forward to even more of the above in future years. We’re officially entering spring on 20 March, and the beginning of the season usually ties in with the run up to Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt. This will be my third Frankfurt to date, however, I have heard many stories from the shows that passed before. So it does feel like I’ve attended the show more than just twice. Frankfurt is a show which conjures up a mixture of opinions; on the one hand it is a great networking platform, the one time in the calendar year when the majority of people from ‘our world’ all gather in one place.

In my opinion, no other show can currently make a similar claim, although ISE in Amsterdam might be getting closer. On the other hand, with so much to offer, it must be one of the busiest shows for most companies, meaning many are usually run off their feet! The mondo*dr team will be attending the show for the duration, and we’ll be doing our best to get round and see everyone. We’ll be on the move most of the time but our hub between meetings and press conferences will be on Stand C03 in Hall 9 Feel free to drop by. The upcoming busy schedule bares a striking resemblance to last month at ISE, which as I said could be considered PL+S’s nearest rival. It attracts an impressive amount of visitors, and existing exhibitors have already re-booked the entire floor space for next year, meaning the show will be expanding to accommodate new exhibitors. You’ll find a full show report on ISE 2011 starting on page 136. As is usual, I expect there will be a number of announcements and new products on show in Frankfurt. So, while you’re adding the finishes touches, we’ll be filling up our diary. I’ll look forward to seeing you all there.
